Episode 35: So long, Castaway Jace

Friday, October 31, 2008

jace
So Long Chunky Jace…
And so our resident teen stud is the 9th castaway to be voted off. But not without a fight, or at least a good attempt for a fairly suspenseful - almost – tie results against the ex- Naak chieftain, Kiko.

By some weird random coincidence, as Paolo reads and tallies the result.. we are holding our breath for a possible tie-breaker.

But the result was a block vote – the ex-Jarakays and ex-Naaks stuck to their original plan. It was just Jace who didn’t see it coming…

“Parang betrayed, hurt.. sobrang unexpected. Pero okay lang. I still love you guys (contrary to the “I hate you guys” message of Chev) - . It’s just a game”, were his last words.

But Marlon knew it from the get go… “Sabi ko na nga ba eh.” He knows that JC would stick with Naak. But what could probably be more shocking was the vote of Charisse against Kiko… declaring “This is the hardest vote I had to make in the tribal council.” Prior to that night, she directly told Kiko that she’s undecided on who to vote out, and it’s a difficult decision.kiko

Before the vote, Zita declined to offer her immunity necklace to a particular castaway who probably needs it. During the tribal session, Zita said that she wanted to win the top prize but she’s grateful enough to be part of Survivor.

Which brings us back to where the show started… Rob, offering to sacrifice the 3 Million prize for Zita. Rob says that he’s 30 years old and he got more chance to earn that much, compared to “75 yr – old’’ Zita.

But Kiko and JC are not amused about how Rob has been talking about the prize money. Jace meanwhile was already excited for the tribal council.

The show went on with some recaps and profiling on each of the castaway’s attitudes and their strategies to stay longer in the tribe. JC, Cris and Rob professes their “isang salita”. Marlon makes himself useful. Veronica knows she cannot rely on other people and that she needs to win immunity. Kaye meanwhile gets all the information from the ex-Jarakay girls and shares them to her Naakmates.

Later at the tribal council, among what Paolo explored upon was the physical “exfosure” of the girls – Vern and Kaye (Cris not included). To which, Kaye replied “Wala akong pakialam kung may makita...”

Before we end the night… let me reiterate Kiko’s message to Jace:

“Bro, we may have our differences, but you’re still my bro… “

Episode 34: OMG! Ang Naak ni Charisse!

Thursday, October 30, 2008

It's Charry Charry night... Charisse really owned tonight's episode and we call it, "Ang ...Walastik!". And now I understand what you tried to say to me; how you suffered for your sanity; how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they did not know how... perhaps they'll listen now.

The guys are having so much fun they let their thoughts of alliances and the game itself fly away temporarily... It started with who else, Charisse. She asked if they could exchange places, and Rob teased her, "Gusto mo lang makatabi si Kiko e."

chako And yes, it was the best night for Charisse... the night with Kiks. The "kunsintidorang ina" Zita even attempted to give them "privacy" as she covered the chako - couple with their rain gear, as to which Kicks exclaims.. "Charisse anong ginagawa mo dyan?!" (Am, gapangan na ba?)

Vern, the instigator, made Charisse even repeat the 5 qualities of her ideal man. But Charisse was just playing, she says that Kiko already has a girlfriend and she has no malice towards him. (Kilig lang!)

Yes! It was a fun and clever move for Charisse as she jumps from one ex Naak to another. chako

She then talks to Zita about the upcoming tribal council. She said that personally, she wanted Jace to be voted out - nayayabangan na raw sya. During the interview, it seems that Charisse said that Zita and her made an agreement not to vote out the ex-Jarakays one after another. (or was I mistaken?)

chako

But Charisse isn't the only one flirting with the snakes.. Marlon, takes the role of the reliable atsoy - to the point that Rob, Kiko and JC appreciated all his efforts.

JC even declaring that Marlon deserves to be the sole survivor for being very reliable despite his sore attitude at times.

Kaye, meanwhile, admits to Zita that she was tinatamad during the last challenge. (Kulang sa calcium - JC). She knows that no matter what happens, the ex-Naaks are safe.

Although overshadowed by the Chako loveteam, Vern admits her chemistry with Jace - kahit magtinginan lang daw sila at magkamutan ng likod.. how sweet? Ugh.

Jace is worried though. He knows he could be the next to go home, if not, he should win the next immunity challenge. So, who would be the first to be voted out of Chalam?

As Paolo said... "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer..."

Episode 33: Mommy Zita turns back time; wins IC

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

reyna zita dotComers must be celebrating! Rejoice! One of the most favorite playing castaway Mommy Zita beat all the youngsters to grab the first Immunity Necklace. She's like a 20-something lady as she does all the strides. Age indeed doesn't matter in Survivor - size does.

In this challenge, the short and petite are favored.

Castaways, arms chained together, needed to race to the cage of woods and dig enough space to enable them to cross in. The first 5 to get through and step on the map qualifies for the second round.

Jace was first to get in. JC followed. Mommy Zita came third. Verns and Charisse got the 4th and 5th spot respectively. So it's 3J against 2N. Verns slightly bared her back as her shorts was hooked - but she didn't mind.

marlon ipit Rob tried to climb but was prevented as it was not the mechanics. Broad bodied Marlon got stuck halfway getting in - but still trying to push himself more. Cris might have had the wrong strategy crawling faced up as his skimpy shorts got hooked by the cage. While Kiko have selected the wrong spot in digging as thicker sand prevented him even from trying to get his bulky body in. Kaye haven't used her advantage of slim sexy built to get across.

After the first round, Kiko helps Marlon pull his body out from being stucked, and to Paolo's observation, instructed the other castaways to help Kiko pull the big fat Marlon out. (This is the 2nd straight challenge that your beefy [or porky?] body caused you the game.)

On the second round, they need to dig again and get into the second cage where they need to produce a 'panungkit.' The cage has materials, like thin woods and straps that will enable them to create one. Using the improvised 'panungkit' they should reach and hook one key which hangs meters away from them - that is without their body getting out from the cage. If they reach the key, they need to unlock the chain in their arms and go into another cage with woody barriers, get out from that and run again to step on the victory mat. The first to step his/her feet wins Immunity.

ipit Mommy Zita, full of guts, came in ahead of the 4. She quickly tied thin branches of trees, connected them with straps and tried hooking the key up. The key fell farther, almost went out of the cage, but still the halaan hunter managed to hook it towards her, unlock herself and run with free spirits towards the victory mat.

Hallelujah!!! Kiko, Kaye and Rob proudly cheered for their second mom and were delighted she won the Immunity.

Verns had a hard time getting in the second cage. Charisse climbed and stepped on the woody pens of the cage to try and reach the key. JC and Jace can't find the right formula to create a hardy stick.

It was a moment of glory. The spirit of family bond remains with Naak.

"That was the BEST EVER WINNING MOMENT... of all TAAAYM!"

Episode 32: Tama na yan, Inuman na!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

At Chalam, a croc would try to break down our little happy family of snakes to stay longer in the island.
gapang
Would his tactic work as precisely as how a croc ambushes it's prey, or would the snake live up to it's reputation... Would the snake bite his own kind or slither silently towards the croc for the kill!
THE loyal snake comes rushing towards his brood. JC, seizes the moment while Marlon washes his hands after having cut by a bamboo. JC, still trying to catch his breath, warns Cris, Kiko and Rob that Marlon would eventually talk to Cris. He admits that he was being lured by Jace but he affirms his loyalty for Naak.
Cris says "Hindi pa tayo inaabot ng gabi, ginagapang na tayo..." as to which Kiks replies, "Paano desperado na sila..."
Kiko, like a chieftain, declares that he has complete faith with his people, with his Naak tribe. From the start, he has assured his bros to keep them as long as he can in the competition.
Some conversations between JC and Kiko went like:
jarakay JC on Jace "Inubos mo ang mga katribo mo, tapos ako ang ititira mo...?" JC admits that he is just playing along with Jace.
The young croc, Jace, seems oblivious that he is inside a snake pit. He convinces Marlon that JC is on their side and adamant to the rest of the ex-Jarakays that Kiko should be the next to be voted out, then Rob, Cris, and Zita.
Jace to Marlon "Akala nila marami sila... Trust me pare, we're gonna last."
Marlon wouldn't want to burst Jace's bubble but he knows that the young stud is way out of his league. Marlon's personal quest is to befriend the former Naaks and change their initial impression on him.
Quenching the Thirst
cris tears Another hefty lunch, and a better night cap for the Chalam tribe. Then came the beer, red wine (or margarita) and punch. The males except for JC were ecstatic.
JC says that he really isn't a drinker, while Vern also declares the same. Maybe it's in their athletic genes.
But for Cris, it's time for some release. With tears, he declares that "kahit anong mangyari sa atin, paglabas, friends pa rin tayo..." He recalls tearing up when he celebrated his birthday without his family, and it was the first time he had a lechon for the ocassion.
As to which Marlon concurs, "We're just playing a game pare!"
As the alcohol kicks in Marlon, becomes, extra talkative (demure pa pala sya pag sober sya ng lagay na yon) and jolly and extra reddish and crispy...
Tonight.
stuck
The first individual immunity challenge. Who would be on top of the tribe.
Mga Katribo, let's have a toast! Mabuhay ang Chalam! Mabuhay ang dotcomers!

Episode 31: Chalap ng Ulam - Chalam

Monday, October 27, 2008

And after lunch time, everyone didn't mind the empatso that they had to go through as much as looking at their bulging tummies. JC even sweared he won't eat that much again.

And as soon as everyone was filled up, Jace started to court JC into his alliance. But JC had something different in mind.

Preview:

Jace (to Marlon): Ito ang line up ha. Pakinggan mo ko ha. Kiko, Rob, Cris, o Zita. Okay?

Foot injury forces Niña Ortiz to leave 'Survivor'

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Castaway Niña Ortiz thought she only had a minor injury but Thai doctors told her she needed to put her foot in a cast that is prohibited from getting wet. With this development, the Sporty Mom needed to end her stint in Survivor Philippines.
In Thursday night's episode, Niña and JC Tiuseco were both brought to the hospital to check on their injuries; Niña's fractured toe and JC's infected foot.

Both Niña and JC returned to the Devil's Island before the start of the Immunity Challenge but with different purposes. JC remained in the game and was given the option to participate in the challenge while Niña sadly informed all the castaways that she had to leave the game because of her injury.

"Much as I want to stay, ang toe ko ayaw. I have a fractured toe. Mahirap para sa akin ang magpaalam sa inyo," said an emotional Niña. "All of you are very good competitors. Jarakay naman ako all the way."

She hugged all of the remaining castaways before the two tribes, Naak and Jarakay, went on with their Immunity Challenge called the "Giant Ball Challenge."

Before Niña left, Survivor Philippines host Paolo Bediones praised her and told her, "Pinatunayan mong isa kang totoong mandirigma."

For her farewell message, Niña told viewers: "Itong experience ko dito sa island, hindi ko maikukumpara sa kahit anong experience. Mahirap [ito] i-describe. Hindi man ako na nakarating sa dulo, hindi man ako naging Sole Survivor, it's not the prize, it's the privilege of having gone through...yung nag-sacrifice ka, naki-challenge ka, nakisama ka, legacy ko na yun."

Niña has one consolation: she was not voted off by her fellow Jarakay tribemates.

The Jarakay tribe won in the Immunity Challenge Thursday night, which means someone from Naak tribe will be going home on Friday's episode. But Paolo announced that a twist will transpire during the Tribal Council.

Episode 25: Bye John! "I will miss you pare"

Friday, October 17, 2008

  • John: I will miss you pare?
  • Jace: Huh? (As in huh? napalunok!)
  • John: I will miss you...
  • Jace: (Ah, eh, ahmm.. eh) Us too...

That dialog is a premonition of John's departure.

All of us thought Nikki will leave tonight, after their revelations to Paolo. What happened to the JJV alliance? Does 'concern' weighed much than strategy? Before the tribal council, the Jarakay were sorting who to cast off.

John imparts that their alliance will stick to their 'first plan' which is to vote Nikki off.

Andito lang ata sya just to comb her hair..." (Yihaa!)

On John...
Marlon said something in line with, "puso namin nagdurugo pag nakikita ka namin naghihirap..."

Jace had a heart-to-heart talk with John, telling him the possiblity of voting him off... and the amishu mishutu lines came after...

Charisse opened up with John that she was the only one who voted him off the last time "out of concern."

At the Tribal Council, Paolo asked them the reason for their consecutive losses, their condition in the camp, the unity advantage of Naak and the threat for them from Naak.

Marlon reiterates his wrong decision for their loss.

Jace justifies the fact that Naak has got more guys and more swimmers than them.

Vern feels "grandma," Nanay Zita is the threat. The adorable granny can do almost everything for Naak. Marlon remains threatened by Kiko.

John, asked if he still can live the life in the island, says, "Kinakaya ko pa..."

On their one-on-one with Paolo...

First, John
Paolo: Totoo bang natatakot ka na..?
John: Oo totoo. Everytime matutulog, laging may nararamdaman ako... Nanginginig.

Asked, what's his opinion on Nikki, John said, "Para siyang baby sister ni Marlon. Spoiled. Walang ginagawa. Hindi siya deserving to be here. In fact siya ang nakaline-up naming i-vote out..."

Jace
Jace: Hindi... Siya ang weakest link. She contributes the least.

Pao then asked about his opinion on John and his condition... Jace shared, "...naninigas ang kamay (hinawakan mo ba?), hinahabol ang hininga..." "Naaawa ako... But still I think he does deserve to be here and fight for the win..."  "But I'm here to win..."

Nikki, next, was asked if she's satisfied with her contribution to her tribe. I didn't get her words but, she ended her response with, "I want them to vote me off..." What's running of her mind? She feels "nagkakanya-kanya na kami sa tribe." "I'm feeling homesick..."

Vern, said she will vote Nikki off, "prinsesang nakaupo sa tasa." Marlon can't come up with any good word to describe Nikki's asset to Jarakay. He just said, "...lumalaban naman yung tao..."

Fun at Naak continues (kelan ba hindi fun dito?)

While strengthening their alliance, JC, Rob and Kiko talks about Jarakay's Tribal Council. Kiko feels that they won't see Nikki on their next encounter. They also discuss Jarakay's performance in the last challenges. JC says, "overconfident yung kabilang tribe." Kiko and Rob both say "kailangan nila si Gigit sana..."

Naak has always got visitors. This time the monkeys.  Cris, with Kaye, saw the monkeys while looking for materials for their shelter. Teasing  the monkeys, he yelled at Kaye, "Mag-two-piece ka Kaye lalapit yan. Mga lalaki e. Magtupis ka!" (Gusto mo lang yatang umiskor na naman pards e!)

Readers, malalim na ang gabi, balik na sa camp...

Episode 24: Wanted katol! Lamowk siguradong tepowk!

Thursday, October 16, 2008

"Bangkok lamok do not just leave you with a small red rash. The wrath of a Bangkok lamok leaves you with an equally big Bangkok pantal or, along with the niniks, leave you peppered with redness.

And for some strange reason, they have quickly become slightly immune to our synthetic insect repellants no matter how much we slather or spray. "

Charisse was the most vocal, "Kung pwede nga lang susunugin ko na 'tong buong isla para mamatay mga insekto e... Nakakainis! Ang kati pag natutulog... Kabado lang ako sa long term effects (alam mo yown!)"

John kidding said "Kay Patani lang yata di makikita insect bites e.. Lahat kami meron. Sabi ko na lang wag nilang kakamutin dahil lalong lalaki yan, i-tap-tap lang nila" Itaptap mo! Itaptap mo!

Jace: "Kati, sobra!" (Aww!)

At Naak, Nay Zita just continuosly mind the firewoods to create bigger smoke that could drive away the bugs.

So much with insects buddies...

Before the itchy scenes tonight, the two tribes were both wet and drenched. A storm hit the island again.  At Naak, all but JC and Kiko who stayed awake the whole night to watch out for their fire mainly, slept soaking. Kaye shared her mysterious sighting, "May nakita akong nakatayong lalaki dyan banda... matagal mga 5 seconds bago nawala. Naka-khaki siya at coat na white..."

Naak's unfinished shelter was ruined. Cris lead the repair of the roofing, proudly sharing what has learned from parents.  So he and Rob went to find coconut leaves to weave afterwards. But instead, they found a familiar gabi leaves and thought it's edible. But Nay Zita discouraged them from picking it up and eating. It is one of those non-edible gabi. It is just commonly used as ornaments, Nay explains.

It was a laughtrip between Kiko and JC on the hot rice. It's nice to see such moments for this tribe, regardless how unfortunate they have been so far in the new camp. And other thing nice is the bonding of Rob and Kaye (to which I thought the episode would focus a bit more; but good thing hindi. Wala tayo sa bahay ni kuya.).

And how about playing 'Nanay tatay gusto kong jarakay', este tinapay pala...

JC writes all his food cravings and plans when he got back to Manila. This includes spa and scrub and dentist!

Meanwhile at Jarakay, Charisse got a bit pissed off with his Orocan buddy Marlon. Sila pa rin ang magkasama kasi no, even if they are hitting each other on their turns on the camera. Marlon justified, "Actually sya yung pikon..." Charisse then said, "Alam kong di ko magiging kaibigan yan pagbalik sa Manila." Aray!

But despite of Marlon's character, we can see that he really assumes almost all the chores in the tribe. (But like Paolo said, we don't see the entirety of the show, so this just is for our limited viewership.) Just unfortunate though that he wound himself a little when trying to break a bamboo.

Speaking of pikunan, I guess Vern, John and most likely Jace, weren't over yet on their loss in the IC. Not really blaming Marlon, but questioning on his commanding vocals all throughout the game. "Bro, alam mo ba ang pakiramdam ng nasa unahan?"

Episode 23: Naak wins IC; Kaladkaran tungo sa tagumpay!

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

It's a second straight win for Naak; how sweet it is. And it's another jolting loss for Jarakay.

It's a run and tag type of game.  The tribes, tied altogether, need to chase and tap the castaway in the tailend of the other.  Once tapped, that castaway will be put into cage and he should pass his sack to his tribemate. Then the chase is on again as the tide rises.

Jarakay sacrificed Nikki for a reason to lighten up their weight. But the sacrifice took its toll on Jarakay. Charisse, Marlon, Vern and lastly John joined Nikki in the cage one after the other. It must be the hunger factor that caused their weakness and loss in this game. John noticeably absorbs too much of those factor that on the teaser, he was shown having difficulty again. Halfway in the competition, Jace notices John shivering or weakening.

Naak had some flaws when tailenders Nanay Zita and Kaye fell and still their hulky frontliners continued the run and pull, disregarding their two angels. Kaye screamed many times at Nanay Zita as she was being pulled 'inconsiderably' while she's complaining pain and was in 'unsuitable' posture. Nonetheless, no one has been caged from Naak. Although Rob is the frontliner, JC leads the group with their strategy while Kiko gives his mind over matter encouragement.

So John and Jace, who's got a f*%^&$# hard time now? Maybe Cris had a fucking HARD TIME too!

Jace being the leader, complained to Marlon first "Hindi mo ba alam ang pakiramdam ng nasa harapan?" Marlon, retorts, "Alam ko, mabigat dahil hatak mo lahat.." Despite that, Jace, carrying more than 60 pounds(?) of soaking sacks bravely faced being the last croc standing as the snake trails him behind.

Kiko praises Jace, "I have huge respect for Jace.. kahit mag-isa na lang sya, hindi sya sumuko."

Notables:

  • Cris covered Kaye when she's about to 'expose'.
  • Charisse volunteers to be sacrificed and seems excited being in the cage with Nikki.
  • John was pissed off with Charisse cheering from the cage. "Parang nababaliw na sya..."
  • Kaye complains of stepping into (sharp?) and unpleasant things, but Kiko yelled to ignore it.
  • Cris'quote for the day "Tagalugin nyo kasi!"

Back at the camps.

Marlon si dumbfounded by their loss, "Parang hindi sila ganun dati na sumusuko na kagad." John admits that the lechon loss really affected them. Marlon tries to cheer up the camp, despite the impending vote-off by cooking all that they got. Nikki slept.

Over Naak, Kiko and Zita scours for hours for seashells again. (Notice how Kiko really looks like Disney's Tarzan, how he moves his limbs on the sand while scouring? Very apelike) Rob doing his Paolo Butones antics again, this time in Starzan style.

Episode 22: Shame and blame for Marlon; Bromance on the rocks at Naak

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

It was an unusual cheerful, yet ironic mood as the Jarakay dudes are bonding and jokingly blame Marlon for the loss - that was after they stare enviously at Naak as they consume all, but bones of the mouthwatering lechon and sarsa. Marlon admits the fault and realizes his mistake that he called for help

John elaborates the total time consumed (approx. 6 minutes) on that booboo of their ally.

Some funny lines overheard:

"Ayoko nang kumain ng kahit na anong suso, halaan o kuhol"- Charisse.

"Naaamoy ko yun sarsa, parang puputok ang ugat ko... Tapos si Kiko ang laki pang kumuha. Ngayon lang ako naapektuhan ng lechon. Dati sa trabaho ko pitong lechon sa isang araw dumadaan sa kamay ko pero di ko pinapansin. Pagbalik ko titirahin ko yung batok" -    Marlon

"Anong mas okay, yung dalawang isda o yung 2 lechon?" - Jace

"Tanong pa ba yan, pare!?" - Marlon

- Marlon

Uy, someone's falling... " - Charisse  jace takam"Selos ka naman!" - Marlon.

At Naak, a 'resident' greeted the tribe in their new camp. It was a snake bigger than the one they saw at their previous camp. Nanay Zita lead everyone in saying that it's a good sign for them, particularly for the Immunity Challenge the next day.

Bromance on the rocks over Naak...

marlon Kiko, irked over Rob's Paolo Butones antics, walked away after his meal and expressed his disagreement on what Rob did. He said something like, they shouldn't have been lewd while feasting in front of Jarakay, knowing that the other tribe had been accomodating to them during their stay with them.

Rob, kinda irritated, said something like, Hindi nya ako pwedeng diktahan... Walang pwedeng magdikta sa akin. Araw ko to at birthday ni Cris ngayon. I wonder why it became his day... Anyone tell me pls?

"We deserve the reward. I am so lucky with my tribe. Nakasama ko lang kasi ang Jarakay at alam ko talaga minsan wala silang makain at gutom sila, kaya hindi na kailangang ipagmayabang pa sa kanila ang reward." - Kiko

But bromance prevailed. Before the day ends, they condoned each other and shook hands. "Kulang ang 39 days kung patatagalin pa namin to, 39 seconds lang sapat naman na para maayos to," were Rob's words.
"Akala ko nagtatampo pa sa akin e" - Rob

"Kuya, pare" - Kiko

.... at matagal na holding hands.

And eventually, the typical lighthearted and cheerful Naak were partying again over 'smoked panty and swimsuits' - that's their funny way to dry up clothes huh.

"Kaye o ginawang helmet ni Rob ang panty mo" - Zita

Tomorrow's episode: Immunity Challenge, natanggal swimsuit ni Kaye (lumutong kasi sa pagpapausok).
If Jarakay loses, will we see Marlon on Startalk on Saturday? If Naak loses, and if the men's alliance prevails, we might see the Lingerie model going ahead of Nay Zita, as the latter contributes a lot to this family.

Episode 21: Blurp! Marlon de Leche for Naak

Never mind the 2 fishes; and the pillows and hammock. Naak wanted the Lechon de Leche so badly that they (finally) won a Reward Challenge over Jarakay - one of the toughest RC to date. The win also came at the most delectable reward SP has given. (Nanlumo ang Jarakay)

In a battle of body resistance, each castaway needs to swim and climb into a platform to hit a hanging claypot containing one key each. The castaway, then should dive and search for the fallen key. Once found, he needs to swim back to the shore and hang the key to a holder. After completing 6 keys, the puzzle maker should open a box containing the pieces he needs to form.

("hi admin sorry but just a quick correction. the distance was measured and it came out between 50 to 55 meters. just wanted to make sure that the efforts of the castaways arent under valued. thanks again!" - Paolo Bed.)

5 swimmers and 1 puzzle maker each tribe. Kaye and Nikki were the puzzle makers, the rest were the swimmers.

Nanay Zita amazingly (at her age) swims fast. She was the first to reach the platform and break a pot. But she was slightly overtaken by Jace on their way back to the shore.

Cris suffered cramps and was stopped for a while but still managed to return ahead of Vern. (Dude! I'm cramps. Dude! I'm cramps!)

The race between Rob and Marlon dictated the result of the challenge. Rob smoothly have done the challenge. Marlon, even before the start appears bothered. Fact is, he can swim but not as good (Remember the first day of Survivor when he asks Kiko's help in the waters?) Apart from swimming slowly, his backward hit on pot spelled disaster for his tribe. His attack on the pot throws the key to a deeper part of the waters. And he didn't even really bother to submerse. He kept on holding at the platform, trying to find the key with his bare eyes - this to the dismay of his tribemates. JC has finished his turn, and Kiko has started (the 5th man) when Marlon yelled for help. One rule in the challenge is, a castaway can call for help - but they'll be on halt for 3 minutes. An John went swimming towards the platform, not to hatch another pot, but to find the missing key. As Marlon tries to say something to John, the latter, upset, exclaims, "wag ka na lang magsalita."

Nanay Zita (again) was the one to complete the keys, so she swam back. She really amazes me. Di pa uugud-ugod si lola. (Lola sya ni Dyesebel!) While John and Marlon are still looking for the lost key, Nanay Zita is in her composure and successfully finished the track.

ohn was just too late to overtake and snatch the win from Naak. Kaye quickly opened the box and easily solved the puzzle with the help of signals from her tribemates.

AND IT'S A HAPPY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR CRIS!

Before the Reward Challenge....................... (Recaps courtesy of DYONISSI, read more...)

Tribal Council ended with Vevh being voted off. Paolo then announced that the reason why the Jarakay tribe was present, was because, the Naak tribe will be going with the former to their camp.

When both tribes arrived at campsite, the fire was already gone. But as soon as the fire was started, Kiko narrated that they had some socials, kwento-kwento.

Jace then talked with JC. Jace stated that during their first day, the two already had an alliance together with John. He was asking JC if they were to push through with their original alliance. According still to Jace, JC said that what they have planned earlier will push through.

JC, in his interview said, "Sobrang kilala ko siya noong first day sa Jarakay eh. Sobra kaming nag-uusap lagi. Ngayon, hindi ko alam kung anong balak niya. Kung sumama man ako sa alliance nila sa Jarakay, hindi ko naman sure na, yung mga kasama niya, hindi ako ivo-vote off eh. So I think I have to stick with my new tribe.

Rob, being funny, asked permission from Charisse if he could dance with the Jarakay flag because, according to him, he was the flag bearer before. Rob then proceeded to do a sexy dance with the flag, which he ended with a Kiss.

After a few handshakes, Cris even told Marlon, "Kala ko 'di na tayo magkikita ulit eh."

And after a hug with Rob, Marlon told Rob, "Trash talking lang yung last na ano pare."

Around the fire, Kiko introduced Nanay Zita to John who was just quiet in the corner but extended his hand towards Nanay Zita. Nanay Zita held her hand as well and the two exchanged greetings. "Hi, John," Nanay Zita said.

While most of the Naak tribe were sitting around the fire, Marlon asked them why they were not mixing themselves with the Jarakay members. Marlon just received a "Sige lang" from Rob and Cris.

Cris said in his interview, "Biniro ni Rob si Marlon na, 'Wala ba tayong makakain diyan?' 'Sandali lang ha, titingnan natin kung meron pa.'"

Marlon then gave the Naak tribe members a banana each.

Cris in his interview continued, "Kumbaga, siya ang nag entertain sa amin."

Naak has all praises for the big Marlon. Cris says, "Iba si Marlon..." Kaye comments, "Friendly siya... although minsan papansin..." She even said that "Ang cute naman ng dimples ni Marlon."

Zita also had good words for Marlon, calling him almost like an "atsoy" (not tabatsoy, okay!). Marlon helped Nanay to wash their shellfish, saying "Nakakahabag ka naman..."

It was totally Marlon who entertains the visiting tribe and really, I mean really, showed hospitality. He even slept with the Naak castaways. He, sort of, redeemed himself a little from what the other tribe thought of him.

Kasi nga, dito sure ako na kung ano ang sinabi nila, yung...may prinsipyo ang tribe namin. Pinaka-solid na alliance ko talaga si Kiko and Rob eh. Si Cris, kasama na rin namin. Pero nag stick na kami sa promise namin...tatlo kami." (Ang haba ng interview LOL!)

Episode 20: Vevh Pours Emotions, Casted Off from 'Larong Pangmayaman"

Saturday, October 11, 2008

Paolo tells the losing Naak tribe that they would transfer to another camp, to start all over again, bring their stuff to build a new shelter on a new environment.

Kiko returns to the Jarakay Camp for the night until the next day. The tribemates are all hungry, tired and freezing. Kiko initiates to improvise a mini – bonfire inside their “tent” to keep them warmer.

Marlon admits that Kiko’s idea worked and it benefited them.

“Nabilib naman ako. Maganda. Nakita ko naman na para sa amin din. Natutuwa ako sa ginawa niya. “ -  Marlon

Jarakay feasted on the mussels Naak gave them. Charisse can’t help but appreciate the food after “eating only rice for the longest time.” Jace calls the seashell “Halaan on steroids.” (err, are you a stud on steroids too?)

But this wouldn’t stop him from saying more things against Kiks with the rest of the guys. Veronica even reinforces saying that “Feeling ko sa Naak napaka-bossy niya.” To which Marlon agrees. “Akala mo napakagaling niya, yung iba hindi alam yun, nakatanga sa kanya. Feeling niya encyclopedia siya.”

Oblivious to the backbiting talks, Kiko says that he respects Jarakay, even Marlon, being a guest at their tribe. He even confirms that the differences between Jace and him are already settled.

“I would have a hard time trusting him again, pero siguro naman pag buhay ko ang nakataya hindi niya ako gagaguhin or whatever.” - Kiko

However, Charisse further broke their pot while cleaning it. It was slammed by a big wave and now gone into bonkers. Marlon, seeing this as an opportunity to brag, goes out to get some bamboo where they would eventually cook rice, and it also comes with “ubod”, an instant veggie food.

“Puro research lang ang galing niya, di hands on eh,” Marlon says about Kiko.

However, Kiko started talking with them and makes fun of the “Pako incident” which made everyone made at ease.

“Di pa dumadating ang ransom sa kinidnap nyo, pinatay nyo na.”

Charisse defends by saying “Flavored pako yun.”

By the way, Charisse declares her admiration for Kiko - him being kind and helpful, which Marlon made fun of.  “Someone’s falling…” And Charisse replied, "Ok siya a, ba't galit ka sa kanya?"

(Noticeably, Kiko’s arrival at the Jarakay brought some genuine laughter as well at the tribe.)

Marlon then takes the initiative to make a bracelet for Kiko, with his name (not Kiko Matsing as Charisse suggested, we all know who the real matsing is) engraved on it to add to his collection.  Charisse presents the bracelet to their “special” guest. Then Kiko gave his speech, saying to Marlon that:

“Thank you for your hospitality kahit na pinako nyo ako. Sumama rin ako rito para ma-clear ang differences natin. To Marlon, pag nagtatrash o nagbabad mouth talk ka, you are being misinterpreted.”

He even tells Marlon that, “Paano ako hindi makikipagbati sa’yo, eh ginawan mo pa ako ng bracelet…”

Marlon’s pride succumbs, saying “Masaya ako, masarap din pala siyang kasama…” (Ay, walang group hug?)

EMOTIONAL VEVH

Vevh pours emotions about her gut feeling that she's next in line. But when Kaye asked her who she wants to vote out, she mentioned JC, but also thinks Rob deserves to go. ... "Kasi malaki ang katawan, wala naman sa utak, walang strategy..." says Vevh of Rob.

"I'm here to play the game fair, not to win friends. Umiiyak ako dahil may konting pagkatraydor kayo. Tama si Emerson, larong pangmayaman lang ito."

Kaye avoids closeness with Vevh, since she'll cast her off at the Tribal Council. Ayaw nyang makipag-plastikan. Eventually, Kaye got annoyed by Vevh's tantrums - "ayaw magpacheck-up. iyak naman ng iyak."

Rob sees Vevh sleeping 'inside' the (floating?) wooden box.  To his concern, he invited the young lass to better stay near them - to their usual sleeping area. Vevh ignored Rob, and the hulky Rob sighed and whispered, "Pasaway!"

TRIBAL COUNCIL

Paolo Bed's Q and A revolves around Kiko being kidnapped by Jarakay. Nanay Zita describes Kiko's absence as "nakakalungkot, malaking kawalan, and pilay ang tribo." She adds that JC assumed Kiko's role on that day.

Rob, meanwhile, blames himself for their loss in the last Immunity Challenge being the captain in that one. Kaye admits annoyance towards Rob and states that the captain forgot the strategy.

Vevh, on their camp transfer, says they will miss the comfort in their previous camp.(And probaby the bounty food source)

Nanay Zita reveals why she was emotional on Niña's departure. She remembers their bonding moments during the first day in the island, when they shared a lot about their lives.  She also reminded Niña about her promise - not to forget when they see each other back in Manila.

Then came Kiko...

He shared his experience at the other tribe as a realization - where he has understood the other tribe and the character of every castaway in there. He mentioned Jarakay's weakness being the lack of structure. He also shared how he patched things up with Jace, Marlon and the tribe in general.

Exfosed! Patani's life after Survivor

Patani's fun frolics in Survivor Philippines became her ticket to her dreamed exfosure. After the livefeed interview on 24 Oras, she was invited by Lucy Torres herself to be her guest co-host in The Sweet Life in QTV. And just earlier we saw her having a great time playing with Joey De Leon on 'Kayang Kaya Mo To' portion of Eat Bulaga. It was a total laughtrip.

Later, she will appear on Startalk along with Vevh and Niña. And don't forget to catch her tonight on Kaposo Mo, Jissica Suhu; Unang Hirit on Monday. Congrats Patani! You're such a winner!

Farmer's daughter Vevherly voted off Survivor

Friday, October 10, 2008

Farmer's daughter Vevherly Gador became the sixth person to leave Survivor Philippines. In an episode earlier tonight, October 10, Vevherly was voted out unanimously by her fellow Naak tribemates.

Even before the Tribal Council, Vevherly already knew that she would be the one to go home because of the "alliance" among her tribemates. She vented her disappointment with tribemate Kaye Alipio and told her that she felt betrayed.

Vevherly also suffered an injury during the last Immunity Challenge, but she refused her tribemates' offer to look at her wound.

After the Immunity Challenge, host Paolo Bediones revealed the "twist" that he announced before the challenge. The Naak tribe, who lost in the challenge, would have to leave their camp and find another one where they will build a new shelter.

Naak member Kiko Rustia was kidnapped by the Jarakay tribe as a consequence of losing the last Reward Challenge. He was also not allowed to participate in the Immunity Challenge and help his tribemates.

Before going back to his tribe, Kiko thanked the Jarakay tribe and settled his differences with Jace Flores and Marlon Carmen whom he had issues before. He returned to the Naak tribe just in time for the Tribal Council. But he was not able to vote and he cannot be voted off.

During the Tribal Council, Paolo announced another "twist." At that point, the Jarakay tribe joined the Tribal Council to observe Naak's Tribal Council.

Paolo asked the Naak tribemates who among the Jarakay members are the strongest and the one they want to be chained with.

Vevherly received all the votes from her tribemates while she voted Rob.

In her exit interview, Vevherly asked the remaining Naak tribemates not to bring their game to the real world.

Vevherly has now joined other Survivor Philippines castoff: Chev Macias, Emerson Diño, Gigit Sulit, and Patani Daño. Niña Ortiz was forced to leave the game before the last Immunity Challenge because of her fractured toe.

Survivor castoff Patani Daño starting to get more exposure

Thursday, October 9, 2008

NO HARD FEELINGS.

"Yung dati kong trabaho bilang yaya, puwedeng kong balikan.

Episode 19: Niña, Leaves Undefeated; Tough Times for Naak

It was Marlon who found the body paint for Jarakay. The body paint was to be used for the immunity challenge. Charisse rationalized that their kidnapping of Kiko might work for their advantage. She said, "Getting Kiko, it's a good decision. Whether it would be a mental challenge or a physical challenge, he's very very strong. So i think it will work to our advantage."

However, in spite of the fact that Kiko is with Jarakay, at least for the day, he has explicitly confessed his affiliation for Naak. He said, "My thoughts are always with Naak. I may be here, physically, but my spirit, my heart, my loyalty, naiwan sa Naak."

At the Naak tribe, the fun continued. In spite of the rain, and their body paints being washed away, the Naak tribe indicated that they are ready for the challenge.

When both teams arrived at the challenge area, JC was welcomed back to the Naak tribe.

Paolo then fetched Nina to the surprise of everyone, asking what went wrong. Niña said while she cried, "As much as i want to stay, yung toe ko ayaw e. I have a fractured toe. Although maliit lang suya na injury, it requires casting and it cannot be wet. As explained to me, marami pang challenges na susunod, na hindi ko naman puwedeng tatakbo ako na dala-dala ko ito, di ba? Hindi na rin ako puwedeng maglangoy, ganoon."

But before the tearful goodbyes, Chris offered Naak's gift, "Sabay pala tayo magka-birthday. happy birthday. August 5 ako e." Niña asked what the gift was. he said, "Ulam para sa Jarakay" as everyone, except Marlon, gave an applause.

She added, "At least, di ba, di naman ako na vote out. Thank you Naak. Thank you for the camaraderie. Di ko man kayo lubusan nakilala, lahat kayo dahil hindi tayo nagkasama. Thank you, you have been very good competitors."

And even Nanay Zita was heartbroken saying, "Magpaalam ka sa akin ha."

Niña continued, "Sa Jarakay, Jarakay naman ako all the way. I wish i could stay with you longer pero hindi talaga puwede e." She then proceeded to hug everyone, hugging Nanay Zita the longest as the two ladies cried.

Nina further stated that she won't be able to compare her experience, while in the island, with any other, "hindi man ako nakarating sa dulo, hindi man ako naging sole survivor, it's not the prize, it's not the money. It's the privilege of having been through such...nag sacrifice ka, nag challenge ka, nakisama ka, nakibagay ka. Tsaka legacy ko na yon."

Then Paolo proceeded to give each tribe a bunch of bananas. And to everyone's surprise (especially Marlon's) Paolo announced that the immunity challenge was to push through.

The games

The game's objective was to score two points first. Each tribe needed to bring a giant wooden ball to the end of the swamp (their goal) and win a point.

The first players were three women each. Veronica, Charisse, and Nikki played for Jarakay. Nanay Zita, Vehv, and Kaye for Naak. Nanay Zita and Vehv were left without defense from the Jarakay tribe and easily brought their ball to their goal. Naak 1, Jarakay 0.
The next players were three men each. Jc, Rob, and Chris played for Naak. Marlon, Jace, and John for Jarakay. It was a neck and neck game but Jarakay won this round. Naak 1, Jarakay 1.

The next set of players needs two women and one man for each tribe. John stayed at the corner as he shivered in the cold. Nanay Zita, Vehv, and Rob for Naak, Charisse, Jace, and Veronica for Jarakay. This time, each team were required to bring a home run for the two balls in order to get a point.

It was during this match that Rob and Marlon had a shouting match. Marlon was coaching Charisse that she instead ride the ball. Rob shouted that that was not allowed. Paolo said, "bawal sakyan ang bola" so in order to settle the issue. Marlon then asked back why Rob was angry.
"Hindi ako nagagalit!" was Rob's reply.

Marlon continued to irk Rob while Kiko told off Marlon, "Tama na. Huwag mo na gatungan kasi. Ginagatungan mo pa eh." Marlon answered back, "Bakit? Bawal ba yon?"

As a recourse, Kiko addressed Rob, "Mind on the game Rob. Hayaan mo na." and while looking towards Marlon, "Huwag mo nang gatungan."

It was a physical game and jarakay brought home their first ball for the third match...
And then their second... Winning them the immunity idol.

Paolo then reiterated that Kiko will be with Naak during tribal council but he won't be able to vote nor be voted.

The preview

During tribal council, Paolo said, "bukod kay Kiko, may ilang bisita pa tayo dito sa tribal council. Papasok na sila."

Episode 18: Kiko and the Matsing!

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

It is evident how the Jarakay castaways are uncomfy with Kiko around. Marlon and John can't do their wares in their own tribe. (Jace is almost invisible in tonight's episode). Marlon, in his usual boastful character, again, shares to the camera his long intention to kick Kiko out of Survivor.

Kiko mingles with reservations.  He knows how to play his game. At one point Kiko helps putting up fire. Then Marlon takes charge from nowhere. Charisse finds Marlon weird, adding, "...Para siyang 10 year old kid in a 30 year old man". (And after, Marlon tries to strenghten hold on his alliance with Charisse.)

It looks like Charisse enjoys Kiko's company as she describe him as "insightful, and interesting to talk to." (So possibly they have had much time chatting huh...)

At meal time, Kiko finds a nail in his food. Jokingly he says, "...unless somebody here wants to kill me." Joke it may be, do you think it is planted? The guys are silent. Vern appears bothered.

Marlon, again on the camera, stresses that Jarakay is disorganized that day because of Kiko. Nobody assumes cooking. No order, no movements from all. It's a lazy day. Jarakay seems intimidated on the presence of the silent 'visitor'. Everybody seems watching their own to prevent any connection with Kiko. John says they'd just use the day to reserve energy for the coming Immunity Challenge.

Waiter Marlon feels uneasy with the Restaurant Owner Kiko mingling with them and volunteering to do chores.

The kidnap does not end (yet) in tonight's episode, as the Immunity Challenge will be tomorrow. But as per his stay in Jarakay, well, there's almost no highlight of any significant communication between Kiko and the tribe. No confrontations (yet). Nothing much. Let's see tomorrow if Kiko will choose or will be asked to play against Naak, and if he will, how will he fair against his home tribe; And how will Naak feel about it?

Kiko, he probably writes on his journal the whole day at Jarakay (reviewer22, can you update us with its content, lol).

At Naak, everybody misses Kiko. Nanay Zita narrates the guy's worth. They miss his initiative in every situation and in every chores they do. The tribe just hopes that their assuming leader will bring a lot of info about Jarakay for their favor.

Food hunting becomes a hobby for Naak. Vhev and Zita enjoys searching for native clams on the waterbeds (they call it aruruy). Rob says they choose what to eat because they look forward to the gaining energy prior to every challenges therein. With the abundance of foods, Rob suggests to give some to the rival Jarakay. Does charity exists in Survivor?

EMERGENCY?

JC and Niña both needed to go to hospital to check on their swelling foot. Before Niña left her tribe, she assures her comeback and adds that it's just a typical X-ray needed to be done on her. "This is not a sign of weakness ha... I will still compete in the Immunity Challenge ha...""Kahit na gusto mo ako ma-out ha..." while hugging Marlon.

Both findings are of foot infection - they might have acquired during the last reward challenge. Niña being more serious due to possible bone dislocation.

NOTHING much about the alliances on tonight's episode.  Just Marlon repeating who to vote out in order: Niña, Nikki and Cha, that is.

Survivor Philippines: Jarakay tribe member booted out

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Members of the Jarakay Tribe sent home Friday night the 48-year-old man "trapped inside a 28-year-old’s body" in GMA-7’s "Survivor Philippines" on Friday night.

Cesar “Gigit" Sulit, the oldest among the 18 castaways, a freelance web designer and mountaineer, was the first member of the Jarakay tribe to be booted out of the competition. He was the third castaway to be sent home in the series.

The first two castaways who were sent home were “Naak" tribe members Emerson Dino, a sawing machine technician, and Chevyline Macias, the former “GRO" (guest relation officer) who now owns a second-hand clothes business.

Sulit got five votes from his tribe members, votes that ended his dream to be the first Pinoy “Survivor."

During the voting at the Tribal Council, Sulit wrote the name of “Patani," or Jervy Dano, the 20-year-old nanny, who admitted that she joined the “Survivor Philippines" hoping that it would open doors to showbiz stardom.

After he listed Dano’s name, Sulit whispered, “Hindi personal ito, sana makamit mo ang mga minimithi mo."

When Paolo Bediones, the host of the show started to count the votes, Dano’s name was the fist to be counted. But the next five votes were all for Sulit.

“By voting me out, I think mawawala ang competitive edge nila," Sulit said after the voting. “As far as I’m concerned ang ipino-provide ko sa team sa challenges ... is a strong and viable support."

In his “Survivor" profile, Sulit said: “Ang naiisip ko lang is I will approach the game in a very ethical way. Ang focus ko is to contribute to the betterment of the tribe. Walang susunuging tao, walang huhudasin… basta may basic tenet lang ako on how to conduct myself...What you see is what you get."

Meanwhile, John Anthony Lopez, the 27-year-old auto-mechanic and model who fell sick and had to be shipped out of the island and hospitalized last week is back in the Jarakay tribe.

Last week, Lopez was suddenly fell and his body started to stiffen while tending to the bonfire. His tribe members quickly attended to him while others called for a medical team.

Survivor Philippines castaway collapses in the island

Thursday, October 2, 2008

Regarded as the stronger tribe in Survivor Philippines, the Jarakay Tribe was shocked as one of its members collapsed inside the camp after more than a week in the island.

Auto-mechanic and model John Lopez was tending to the bonfire when he suddenly fell to the ground and his body started to stiffen. The tribe members quickly came to the rescue but his condition needed urgent medical attention.

The medical team rushed him out of Koh Tarutao island and brought him to the nearest hospital in Satun, Thailand.
